Project Chairs

Rabbi Yossi and Goldie Grossbaum

While neither the Rabbi or Goldie have experience in commercial property development, they’ve been dreaming of this project for years. They were the first who were able to see it in their mind and have since convinced others to get on board too.

Building Committee

Jim Eilering

Over the course of his 37-year tenure at SMUD, Jim eventually transitioned into facilities operation and maintenance. His duties encompassed overseeing new building construction, commissioning, and managing site and building/office renovations. Jim’s recent retirement from SMUD enables him to dedicate his attention to this project (in addition to spending more time with his family and on his sailboat).

Nir D. Vegvaizer

Owner of NDV Builders Inc. A Remodeling and Custom Cabinetry Company, An Educator, Real Estate Investor and enthusiast Nir will contribute in project oversight and assist in selection of finish materials for the project. Nir has years of experience in gas station development and building, landscaping and land preparation and will contribute from his knowledge to make sure all stages meet the high standards we will require from our general contractor.

Ezra Dovid Philipp

As CFO with experience in several industries Ezra Dovid has over 30 years of experience ensuring that projects stay on budget and their finances are accounted for. We are privileged that he is lending his experience and expertise to guide this project and ensure that the funds are properly managed.

Parham (Avi) Shekarlab Esq.

With over 30 years of experience in the local commercial property market, Avi knows his way around the necessary requirements to develop a commercial property. Add his legal expertise to the mix, and his participation in the building committee ensures that we’ll be compliant with all regulations and local ordinances.

Architecture - Jeffrey DeMure + Associates Architects Planners, Inc.

Jeffrey DeMure + Associates Architects Planners, Inc. (JD+A) believes a synagogue is more than just a place of worship—it's the beating heart of a vibrant Jewish community. As a dedicated design partner, JD+A is committed to crafting a space that serves as a sanctuary for prayer and a welcoming hub for assembly, study, and celebration. Their boutique firm, based in Roseville, CA, is known for its unique approach to design, forging enduring relationships with clients that span decades.

JD+A understands that every detail matters when creating a landmark space that resonates with deep significance. Their team of nimble thinkers and design leaders has collaborated on this vision from day one, infusing imagination and ingenuity into every corner of our Chabad Jewish Community Center. They aim to create a journey of discovery where meaningful touches unfold as visitors explore the space, fostering a profound sense of belonging and connection.

They are more than just architects; they are partners and advisors in bringing this extraordinary vision to life and have helped to build this powerful team of consultants. They recognize the challenges of funding such a momentous project, which is why they are dedicated to finding innovative, cost-effective solutions that always maintain quality and impact. Their passion lies in creating spaces that uplift and inspire, and they are deeply invested in seeing this synagogue become a reality for the Jewish community. Together with the congregation, JD+A seeks to create a sanctuary that will stand as a testament to the power of faith, unity, and the enduring spirit of the community.

Civil Engineering - Morton Pitalo

While it may not be the most glamorous part of a project, it’s arguably one of the most important. The civil engineering ensures that the structure is sound (important don’t you think), the drainage and sewage are properly handled (also pretty important if you ask me) and generally ensure that everything beneath the surface and the scenes is functioning properly.

The great news is that we’ve partnered with Morton Pitalo, a local Folsom firm that did the civil engineering work for the Fountains in Roseville and Palladio in Folsom. We figured that they did well on those projects and would do well on this project too!

Scott Pederson has been doing this work for over 30 years and Troy Adams has over 11 years of experience in the field. We’re excited they’ve joined the team to ensure that the new Chabad Jewish Community Center is built to last for generations!

Landscape Architect - Fuhrman Leamy Land Group

After years of experience in the field, Steve Fuhrman and Kevin Leamy founded Fuhrman Leamy Land Group, a landscape architecture and land development services company based in Roseville.

We are excited that Steve and Kevin have joined the team as the landscape architects. The outdoor spaces of the new Chabad Jewish Community Center will be just as appealing as the building itself. From the planned outdoor meditation area and outdoor gathering spaces to the Israel Garden, the grounds of the new center will draw you in and make you feel welcome the moment you step foot onto the property.

With over 40 years of professional experience in Placer, Sacramento, and El Dorado counties, they are well-versed in the local development culture and expectations. Their industry accreditations and certifications include LEED AP, Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor, EPA WaterSense Partner, and California Certified Nursery Professional. We’re glad they’ve joined the team!
